Milestones in our success story: 1936: A licence to bend pipes. |

Rohrbogen AG was founded in 1936 by Hans Schaffner. The visionary founder of Metallum AG, also based in Pratteln, had first obtained a special license. This allowed him to produce seamless elbows in Switzerland using the cold bending technique. The elbow business was a success from the outset. The company was employing 14 staff even within its first year. Today Rohrbogen AG employs over 90 people at home and abroad. Homemade is better. Our success is home-made. Most of our specialist machinery and production processes have been developed and optimised in-house. For example, the hot presses which went into service in the 1950s were made by the company. In the 1970s, the company added hydro-forming and hydro- calibration of elbows to its repertoire. In the 1990s, this process was developed further into what is known as ?hydro-bending?. The specialist tools and jigs required for our production our still made in our in-house tool-making shop today. |
